The Concept

The artist behind The Dreamers Bench is Viktor Lajos. The project is built around a single bench, a universal symbol where life pauses for a moment. A bench is neutral. It does not belong to any city, culture, or time. It holds space for us, whoever we are, wherever we are in our lives.

It is a place where we rest, reflect, and slow down, a place to breathe between decisions. Here, we confront the complexity of human emotions: our hopes, fears, hesitations, plans, and the quiet determination that moves us forward.

Each artwork captures a contemplative figure, or figures, seated on this bench, lost in thought. The titles represent what they might be thinking or saying to another person in that moment, fragments of a dialogue with themselves or others. Together, the image and title form a subtle narrative about us, and the thoughts that shape our reality.

The visual style draws inspiration from traditional printing houses, where old, unrelated printed sheets were often loaded into the press to set up the print. This caused different images to overlap unexpectedly, creating surprising visual connections between elements that were originally unrelated. The Dreamers Bench artworks echo this idea with two distinct layers, the textured background and the clean, graphic figure, forming meaning in an unexpected way.
